Where I'm headed

Two tracks, one skill set

Healthcare strategy and consulting, roles where the analysis and the recommendation belong to the same person. I'm not stepping away from data engineering. It's the part that makes a recommendation hold up when someone pushes back on it. Short term, I'm looking for healthcare-side internships and analyst roles, and I'm equally glad to do another data engineering summer at a healthcare organization.

Four years of getting closer to the data

From reconciling Workday reports to owning production dbt models that 93 teams report off of.

Data Engineering & Analytics Intern

Pennant Services
Jun to Aug 2026

Built the dbt models behind Pennant's support reporting, then found and fixed the attribution bug that had been hiding 442,000 tickets.

  • Built three production dbt models on Snowflake transforming 11M+ support events into reporting tables covering 1.19M tickets across 93 teams serving home health, hospice, and senior living affiliates.
  • Shipped four Tableau dashboards giving operations leaders team, staff, and ticket-level visibility, validating every metric against both Snowflake and the source system.
  • Rebuilt team-attribution logic to capture sub-day handoffs the prior model missed, correcting the routing team's volume from 76K to 518K tickets handled.
  • Presented the revised model and metric definitions to department leadership, securing new attribution standards.

What I built, and what changed because of it

Four projects worth the detail. Each one is the problem, what I actually did, and what came out the other side.

Healthcare operations

Pennant Support Reporting

Pennant Services · 2026
dbtSnowflakeFivetranTableau

Three production dbt models on Snowflake and four Tableau dashboards covering support operations for home health, hospice, and senior living affiliates.

The problem

Operations leaders across 93 teams had no shared view of how support tickets were actually being handled, and the numbers they did have were wrong. Team attribution was assigned at end of day, so any handoff inside a single day disappeared from the record.

What I did

I landed Zendesk data through Fivetran into Snowflake, validated it against the source system, and modeled it into a star schema in dbt. Then I rebuilt the attribution logic to capture sub-day handoffs, validating every metric against both Snowflake and the source before it reached a dashboard.

The outcome

11M+ support events became reporting tables covering 1.19M tickets. The routing team's real volume turned out to be 518K tickets, not 76K. I presented the revised model and metric definitions to department leadership, who adopted them as the new attribution standard.

Built on Pennant's internal data, so the dashboards themselves are not public. I am glad to walk through the modeling decisions and the attribution logic in an interview.

Research to policy

Ed-Tech Privacy Research

BYU Marriott School · 2025 to 2026
PythonPandasRegressionNLP

A dataset of 2,000+ mobile app privacy policies built in Python, with regression models quantifying privacy risk across applications.

The problem

Schools adopt hundreds of ed-tech apps with no practical way to compare what each one does with student data. Privacy policies are long, inconsistent, and rarely read.

What I did

I collected and preprocessed a dataset of 2,000+ mobile app privacy policies in Python and Pandas. The team then developed regression models to score privacy risk so apps could be compared on a common scale.

The outcome

The group's findings informed Utah HB55 (2026) and the work was covered by KSL. Research that reached a legislature, not just a grade.

Time Series Demand Forecasting

BYU IS 555 · 2026
RmodeltimeProphetDockerAWS S3

An end-to-end forecasting pipeline in R comparing Auto ARIMA, Boosted ARIMA (ARIMA plus XGBoost), and Prophet across 2.5 years of weekly shipment data.

The problem

Forecast weekly shipment volume for a distribution center accurately enough to be scored against a holdout set nobody could see in advance.

What I did

I built the pipeline in R with modeltime and tidymodels, comparing Auto ARIMA, Boosted ARIMA, and Prophet Regression across 2.5 years of weekly data, with temperature, CPI, and unemployment as external regressors.

The outcome

Deployed the winning model as a Dockerized vetiver REST API and submitted predictions to AWS S3 for blind holdout scoring.

Product ownership

Rising Stars Admin Platform

Rising Stars Outreach Foundation · 2026
Full-stackClaude Code

An internal admin site for a nonprofit supporting individuals with leprosy in India, managing communication between student sponsors and the students they support.

The problem

The foundation coordinates sponsorships between donors and students in India, and was tracking those relationships without a central system to manage them.

What I did

I worked directly with the nonprofit to turn their real coordination needs into a scoped tool, then built the admin platform end to end.

The outcome

A single place for the organization to monitor and manage sponsor and student relationships.

An internal tool for the foundation, so it is not publicly accessible. Screenshots available on request.
